And so it is with AI. This technology is a tool whose use is determined by humans.
Here at AI-Monitor, we want to primarily observe this development, and sometimes evaluate it too — so that everyone can decide for themselves how they use AI. Unlike many other technological achievements, the development of artificial intelligence is moving exponentially. A complete picture of the situation is barely possible.
We’re trying anyway.
AI is neither savior nor doom. It’s a mirror — and what it shows depends on who’s looking into it, and why. A language model that helps doctors make diagnoses and one that manipulates elections don’t differ in their code, but in the hand that guides them.
That’s why we watch closely: who is deploying AI, how, with what interest, and with what consequences? We don’t celebrate product announcements, and we don’t paint doomsday scenarios. Both distract from what actually matters — human choice.
AI-Monitor is not a place for hype, and not one for panic. It’s a place for the question that actually counts: who wields this power, and to what end?
